Welcome to the
Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council Website

Our Mission:  Council will support and assist local PTA and PTSA units with training and the adoption of best practices while facilitating communication among and within member units, local non-profit community groups, and the Snoqualmie Valley School District.  Council will also serve as an advocate for improving public education for the children of the Snoqualmie Valley.
Our Goals:
* Membership--Create a membership chair at the Council level to assist local unit membership chairs in their duties.
* Outreach--Define what "Outreach" means for Council and communicate to local units the importance of Outreach, including facilitation of parent education opportunities for parents district-wide.
* Training--Encourage and develop PTA leadership and participation in the Snoqualmie Valley by encouraging local units to send all board members to available training and by making more trainings available
locally.
* Communication--Facilitate communication by encouraging local units to share their activities at Council General meetings.  Council board members will attend initial General Meetings for all local units.
* Advocacy--Encourage and facilitate the establishment of legislative chairs at all local units.
* Awards--Promote recognition by implementing National PTA Leadership Academy tools, encouraging local units to recognize and promote their successes on an ongoing basis at General Meetings, formally recognizing outstanding contributions of volunteers through the Golden Acorn award, and create a Local Unit Awards Committee with the focus of creating recognition at the local and council level.
* Reflections--Promote the National PTA
Reflections Program by encouraging local units to consider participation.

What do we do?

* We serve as a liaison between Local Units, Region 2, and Washington State PTA in order to provide training and support.
* Both Presidents serve as part of the Region 2 Service Delivery Team (SDT) which is made up of representatives from Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Riverview, and Snoqualmie Valley PTA/PTSA Councils.  The SDT is responsible for providing regional training and support.  An important resource provided by Region 2 is the "Handprints" Newsletter.
* Region 2 and, in some instances, Council, can provide training on any of the subjects in your leadership packets except for PTA & the Law, which must be provided by the State Board.
