Welcome
The Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council’s Mission :
To support and assist local PTA/PTSA units with training and the adoption of best practices while facilitating communication among and within member units, local non-profit community groups, and the school district.
Council will also serve as an advocate for improving public education for the children of the Snoqualmie Valley.
"Race to Nowhere"
Council’s last general meeting of the year (Mon., May 21) will be short!, and will be followed by a screening of Race to Nowhere, an award-winning documentary film that highlights the unintended consequences of a pressure-cooker culture and educational system (see below for a short synopsis).
Thanks to the generosity of many of our local units, Council is able to offer Race to Nowhere (PG-13) to our community for free.

It appears to be destroying our children’s love of learning and feeding an epidemic of unprepared, disengaged, and unhealthy students.
RACE TO NOWHERE is a call to families, educators, experts and policy makers to examine current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become the healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens in the 21st century.

Our Goals for 2011-2012:
- Outreach: Define what Outreach means for SVPTA and communicate with LUs the importance of Outreach, including facilitation of parent education opportunities for parents district-wide.
- Training: Encourage and develop PTA leadership and participation in the Snoqualmie Valley by encouraging LUs to send all board members to available training and by making more trainings available locally.
- Communication: Facilitate communication by encouraging LUs to share their goings-on at the General Meetings. SVPTA Board members will attend initial General Meetings for all LUs.
- Advocacy: Encourage and facilitate the establishment of PTA Legislative chairs at all LUs.
- Awards: Promote recognition/implement NPTA Leadership Academy tools, encouraging LUs to recognize and promote their successes on an ongoing basis at General Meetings and by formally recognizing outstanding contributions of volunteers through the Golden Acorn award.
- Reflections: Promote the National PTA Reflections program by encouraging LUs to consider participation.
- Training: Encourage and develop PTA leadership and participation in the Snoqualmie Valley by encouraging LUs to send all board members to available training and by making more trainings available locally.
